When fuel costs increase, everything becomes more expensive – including groceries, diapers, and basic household essentials. Washingtonians are already paying $1.21/gallon in taxes and fees on gasoline. SB 5801 would increase this cost by raising the gas tax by 6 cents per gallon on July 1, 2025, then increase the tax annually by 2%. The House proposal – HB 2043 – would increase the gas tax by 9 cents per gallon on July 1, 2025, then increase the tax annually according to a separate formula. According to the Washington Research Council, this could increase the cost of gasoline by 13 cents per gallon by 2028. Please OPPOSE both of these damaging proposals! Please protect Washington families from further harmful, regressive tax policies like this forever-increasing gas tax surcharge. I urge you to work with your legislative colleagues toward cost effective and sustainable policies to meet our transportation goals without placing enormous, regressive cost burdens on Washington families, small businesses, family farmers and working people across our state. This field is hidden when viewing the formRepresentative EmailsNameThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
